Winthrop coach Randy Peele and the Winthrop coaching staff made a grocery run in the wee hours Friday morning just in case the winter weather left the team stranded at their hotel. They found the shelves at the local Walmart had already been picked through and were nearly void of staple items.
The Winthrop women’s basketball team plays at 5 p.m. today at Presbyterian College. Winthrop won the first meeting this season, 57-40, in the Big South Conference opener for both schools.
